In 1946, before independence, Gulab Singh set up a tea cart, and later took a small shop. The Gulab of that time has now become Gulab Ji. Born into a prosperous family, his life is marked by simplicity.

Love and Sweetness in a Cup of Tea

It is located Behind Ganpati Plaza on MI Road, a small tea shop that gives extra sweetness with love to tea. Here you will find a gentleman in a dhoti, white kurta, and safa talking very politely – one and only Gulab Ji.

He almost used 100 kilos of milk from 4:30 AM to 8 PM daily. The love of Gulab Ji Chai Wale is famous not only in Jaipur but also in other states too.

Now talking about some there snacks with chai, then delicious samosa, mawa ke peda in desi ghee are also popular, grilled sandwiches, bun maska these are also some snacks that people often eat here.

Just like Gulab Ji himself, the taste of his tea is amazing. People come from far away to enjoy his tea. Former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat used to often visit his shop for a cup of tea.

When famous Santoor player Shivkumar Sharma learned about Gulab Ji’s works from a music lover, he couldn’t stop himself to taste his tea and meet him.

Gulab Ji’s energy and commitment have led to the organization of 2 grand musical events at the Yantreshwar Mahadev Temple near Ganapati Plaza for the past 40 years.

He played a key role in establishing this temple, where the foundation day is celebrated every year on February 7. This event features a bhajan evening, and a lavish event is also held on Janmashtami.

The flavor of these celebrations is evident, as the number of artists wishing to perform is so large that many don’t get their turn until the following morning.

Notably, there’s no formal stage at these events, all artists sit together on a single mat, promoting a sense of society.

You might have heard the saying, “Sai, give me so much that my family may be fed, I should not go hungry, nor should a saint go hungry.” Though this saying may be found in books, Gulab Ji has truly brought it to life.

Gulab Ji was born into a family rooted in feudal traditions. From a young age, he showed a spirituality and a commitment to help others. After studying for 5 years at a Gurukul under the family priest, he decided to leave his privileged background.

Chosen to be self-reliant, Gulab Ji started a tea shop, promising to earn an honest living and serve the community.

Shortly after establishing his shop, he started offering free tea to people with disabilities each morning. Initially, only a few people visited, but over time, the number grew to 200-300 daily.

Gulab Ji’s unselfishness didn’t stop with tea, he also spread food coupons for lunch, allowing 200-300 people to enjoy a free meal of vegetables and parathas without any charge.

His selfless service and dedication to the interest of others left a continuing impact on the community, representing the spirit of kindness and charity.
